Tell me about yourself for the interview:
I would be happy on ideas how to decrease this to 2 min, marked [is text that I am hesitant whether it shall be told for a QA job].

Hi I'm Maryna and I hold a Master of Science in International Economics and a Master of Arts in English. My professional background includes experience as a project manager in finance and as a coach in project management, where I contributed to both Waterfall and Agile projects. Currently, I am enthusiastic about transitioning into QA because it offers an opportunity to work in a remote or hybrid role and apply the skills I learned in project management and coaching, such as communication, negotiation, and problem-solving.

I am a supportive team player who easily adapts to change, which is why I am drawn to QA and the potential of AI in this field. My interest in AI and QA developed while coaching project managers at Bay Area universities and Project Management chapters. Many of my friends, who are developers or QA engineers, inspired me to switch careers. I enrolled in QA training, which has been continuously boosting my confidence. Now that my child is older, I am ready to transition from part-time to full-time employment, focusing on corporate work rather than part-time roles and volunteering in coaching or project management.

[In addition to my degrees, I hold certifications as a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and a Certified Scrum Master (CSM).] I regularly took courses on LinkedIn learning and attended webinars and conferences on the latest trends in AI and QA, ensuring I am up-to-date with the most advanced techniques and tools in the field. I also have hands-on experience with QA tools such as JIRA, and Postman, which I used to test processes and track defects efficiently.

[As a project manager, I successfully reduced project delivery times by 20% through streamlined processes and effective stakeholder communication. In one project, I identified a critical bottleneck in the development process, proposed a solution using root cause analysis, and led the implementation, which resulted in a 30% increase in productivity.]

To me, the QA engineer position is a launching pad where you can count 100% on my commitment and hard work. I am passionate about ensuring software quality and user satisfaction. In five years, I see myself leading QA initiatives that leverage AI to predict and prevent issues before they arise. Thus, I am also keen on learning Python and Java to add QA automation to my current skill set.

I am particularly excited about this opportunity at [Company Name] because of your innovative approach to integrating AI in QA processes, and I am eager to contribute to and grow within your team.

      Hello, I am Maria.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Hydrotechnical Engineering that I’ve got from a university in Russia and MSc and PhD degree in Environmental Engineering that I’ve got from a university in Israel. After graduation, I worked as a Research Assistant and a Lab Engineer at the Chemical Engineering Department of a university in Israel. In this position I’ve had a variety of duties including planning and running research experiments, writing operating procedures and scientific reports, supervising students, and operating various scientific equipment.

I loved my job, but over the years I started to feel that among all my duties I preferred those that involved working on a computer (like learning new software (almost every piece of scientific equipment today comes with its software) or writing reports and protocols). Also, I was involved in building a website for one of the labs I worked at and I liked the process of learning the code and understanding how to do the changes we needed.

So when I moved from Israel to the USA I started to look for a career change, I wanted to do something that would involve working with software applications and documentation and where my logical thinking and analytical skills would be in use. QA field looked like a perfect match for what I wanted, so I’ve started developing a new career in this field. My goal now is to become a QA lead and a QA automation engineer in 3 to 5 years.
