    Hello, my name is Dmitry,

I was thinking about IT career all my life, computers and mobile gadgets was always my hobby, installing new Linux or flashing another mobile gadget, try Python or showing Scratch to my kids that what I like on the weekends, It so happened that I went to another profession

I have bachelor degree in Computer systems and automation.
I was working like mechanical engineer for 15 years, together with my friend I had small engineering company in Russia.

In 2017 my family and I move to US. Together with my wife start new hosting business in Jersey City, at the same time I start working as technician.
During COVID 19 we have to close our business and decide to move to Colorado.

Now I am successful as technician, I can fix everything and really enjoy my job but as technician I hit the sealing, my career opportunity to become a branch manager or tutor which I don't really want to do.

So I decide that it is time to start working as QA specialist because it is about finding problems and I am very good at it.

            Hello, my name is Alsu.
I graduated from Institute of social and humanitarian knowledge of George Soros. I have a bachelor degree in linguistics. After graduating I was practicing in tutoring and as a sales manager or an office assistant. This gave me an experience and skill to communicate with different people.
As soon as we moved to the USA with my family 1.5 years ago I faced the necessity to find new profession in new country. Though job market is full of service professionals as well as IT and QA specialists, we can see that technology career is more prospective and gives opportunity to choose between different directions for professional growth and to find your own niche depending on your capabilities, character and experience. That is why this career path is attractive for me.
In 5 years I believe to become an QA analyst.

Hi guys! My name is Polina.

                    1. I have a bachelor's degree in Public Relations from Russia and a US college associate degree in Graphic Design.
                    2. Before I moved to the US I used to work in marketing and advertising-related fields. I have a website content management experience (through CMS platforms like WordPress). I also have Scrum Product Owner experience. Since I moved to the US I've been working in retail, and I'm an assistant store manager at the moment.
                    3. It was never a goal for me to work in retail. This job was good when I just moved to the USA as it used to cover my basic needs primarily. As of now, I feel I can do more than retail, and I'm ready to move forward and get myself a job with more perspectives on professional and financial growth.
                    4. QA seems to be the shortest path into the IT industry. Also, I have a few friends who used to recommend me to take this path for years, and I feel I've just been waiting for too long
                    5. In 5 years I see myself working in the IT industry in a lead position.

                    • Hi, I’m Alex. I’m from Moscow, Russia. I have a university degree in mechanical engineering. Last 10 years I worked as a software developer and quality assurance specialist with Russian ERP system 1C. I moved to the US 3 years ago. Last 2 years I explored the US as a truck driver. And eventually I realized I’m ready to go back to IT. QA is the closest field to my previous experience. I feel excited and comfortable refreshing my skills according this field. And in five years I see myself as an experienced SDET.

                      • Hello!
My name is Anya, I'm 19 years old and currently living in Thailand, I am a sophomore at Far Eastern Federal University studying IT and Software Engineering. Someday I'm planning to transfer to an American university or start from freshman year. I graduated from Asian-Pacific School two years ago. In 2019-2020 I was an exchange student in Minnesota state for a year. I and my family love to travel around the world. The most beautiful place I've ever been to is Hawaii.
Last year I worked a part-time job as a barista at my local university cafe, where students usually come to study or to have a webinar. I worked there not because I needed a job to earn money, but because it was kind of my hobby where I can take a break from studying and chill. My colleagues are also students from different grades and majors, which made me find very good friends there. They all are super friendly, funny, and caring. So every time I came to my job mostly to spend a good time with them.
As you can see, I haven't changed my career, I knew I would study IT.
Sometimes it's hard for me to study just programming or coding, I would study something that contains creativity, for example, digital design, game interface, animation, photo/video editing, etc. But I also found myself in Software QA which is part of my interest in digital media.
In 5 years I see myself as a part of a professional team of my friends developing games or applications. Or as the owner of my own digital company.

                          • Let me introduce myself: my name is Taras. I am 36 years old. I am from Ukraine. I have higher special education - I graduated from the medical academy, specializing in "children's doctor." But it so happened that I left medicine and spent the last little bit more than 13 years working on the Internet - I had my Internet marketing agency (engaged in SEO and contextual advertising) and a group of "profitable sites" (those. sites that were created and developed to sell advertising on them).

Upon arriving in the U.S., I decided to learn a new profession. Maximum "at the intersection" of my previous experience and is a job QA. This profession is just working with different forms, elements, and functions of web applications, the essential work with SQL (all things I faced, working with sites).

I understand that a tester can grow in two main directions - a QA specialist in the broadest sense of the word (who builds a system that will work at all levels for product quality (from blueprints to assembly). Or a specialist in test automation. I am interested in the second option - it is more technical. Therefore, in the next five years, I plan to develop as a QA automation specialist.

                            • Hello. My name is Alessandro and I'm from Italy. I moved to the US in 2010 and currently working as a marketing strategist for a travel startup. The QA field was recommended to me by someone who took this course. I am looking for a more flexible career change while still being involved in the startup. In 5 years, I'd like to be in a more financially stable position and hopefully scale my IT skills into something substantial.

                              • My name is Katia. I have bachelor's degrees in psychology and environmental studies from University of North Carolina in Asheville and degree in social work from Belarus State University.

I have wide spectrum of interests in many fields and that is why changed career paths in the past easily in search of my passion. I work in airline business for the past 8 years and maintaining full time clerical work for US government in disability field.

While my current jobs are exciting and meaningful, I am ready to change my path and work with technologies rather than public. I have never thought that I would be "smart/good" enough to work in IT field until I was inspired by my friend who successfully finished Portnov's school and enjoying his job that he found shortly after the course. This is all very new for me, but I am determined to learn and succeed in testing.

In 5 years, I see myself mastered manual QA and proficient in automation. I am planning to work remotely so I can stay in other countries for prolonged period of time. I want to become one of the best in the field of QA and explore new field in analytics or start my own business in IT.
